Mikey’s 1966 Singer Gazelle

This 1966 Singer Gazelle has been in the Hamilton family since new from Morrisons Motor Company in Stirling. It was passed onto Mikey in 2002 where its restoration journey began. The body paint was done by Bob Falkner back in 2009 and the full interior done by Chris Vining of Custom Coach Trimming back in 2010.

The Singers 1st Setup

- 3.5 Rover V8 out of an old Range Rover from the scrappies. - GM 180 Transmission from a Rover SD1. - Narrowed Volvo 164 rear axle with Detroit Truetrac diff and Moser Half Shafts. - Custom built Wisbech Engineering independent front suspension. - It ran at Shakespeare County Raceway and Santa Pod between 2011 and 2017. - Track PB – 12.75 on 100 horsepower of Nitrous.

Unfortunately, in 2017 the engine ran lean and melted a hole down the side of the piston. The car has since been on a journey to get it back up and running on a new set up and re-worked drivetrain.

Singers 2nd setup

- Stroker Rover engine 5.0L (305CI) built for Nitrous with forged internals. - C4 Mighty Mite Transmission built by Dynamic Racing Transmissions in the USA. - Ford 8.8 Rear Axle narrowed and braced with Detroit Truetrac Diff. - Motive Gear set and Strange Engineering half shafts. - In house fabricated rear anti roll bar and Caltracs style traction bars.

The goal for the Singer is to run a consistent 10 second street car, but most importantly, enjoy the car and create timeless memories. The next big project for Mikey will be his Hillman Super Minx build.
