MK1 VW Caddy Build
This car arrived at the workshop as an already started project. It had been at two other shops before coming to Hamilton Racing.
A lot of previous work carried out had to be cut out or ground back to accommodate the new modifications to the chassis and shell. This build is a full box section chassis with a full roll cage.
Work carried out so far:
· The previously installed Wisbech engineering independent front suspension set up had to be removed, modified and reinstalled. We have installed a new Hauser Racing custom made 9” Ford rear axle on custom built 4 bar and Panhard rod with Protech coil overs
· New motor and gearbox installation comprises of a crate 350 CI small block Chevy V8 and a Tremec 5 speed manual
· Pick up floor had to be completely re-fabricated around the previously installed tube work. Tube supports were installed underneath the newly fabricated floor panels and rear wheel tubs had to be widened to accommodate 15x10 rear wheels.
· The previously installed Wisbech IFS had to be cut out, narrowed 5 inches, and reinstalled correctly
· All cab floor sheet metal and rear panel have been re-fabricated.
· The previously fabricated firewall and gear tunnel has been removed in preparation for new custom built ones
This is a current and ongoing project here at Hamilton Racing.
